About Across The Hall Café

Local, fast, fresh and delicious food!

Across The Hall Café is a restaurant in Syracuse, New York. It is listed at 258 E Water St, Syracuse, NY 13202, which places it among the local businesses of Syracuse that residents and visitors turn to when they need this kind of service close by. Google also lists it under cafe, which is worth knowing if you are comparing several options in the area.

This group covers the non-Asian restaurants, cafes, bars and food businesses that also appear in a mixed-cuisine food scene, including American diners, pizza, Mexican food, burgers, steakhouses and bakeries. Standard US restaurant norms apply: lunch and dinner service with a quieter stretch between, cards and tap-to-pay accepted almost everywhere, and a tip of 15-20% customary for table service. Fast food and quick-service counters expect payment up front and tipping is optional. Bars check ID for anyone who looks under 30, and the drinking age is 21 nationwide. Many restaurants in this group take reservations online through third-party platforms, while casual and fast-food spots are walk-in only. Sales tax is added at the register on top of the menu price and varies by city and state, so the final total is usually a few percent higher than the posted prices suggest.

Hours are published for 7 days a week. On most of those days it is open 8 am–3 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (315) 422-3663. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. More information is available on its website, order.toasttab.com.

Customers rate it 4.7 out of 5 on Google across 230 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded restaurants in Syracuse.

Syracuse is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. Getting around Syracuse is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across New York's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Very very solid spot. I got the Hell’s Kitchen (buffalo chicken) wrap w/ tots and it was delicious. The buffalo sauce on the chicken was objectively above average-tasting, and the banana peppers were a really nice touch. The tots were all crispy and consistent. Service was awesome and the atmosphere is really cool- you’re in an old train car!

We stopped for lunch after visiting the Erie Canal Museum. The burger and cheesesteak were delicious! One of the best burgers 🍔 I’ve ever had!! Loved the atmosphere and friendly staff! Would recommend!

We have only been there once. We ordered basic to be safe and the food was good, but I dont think 5* is just until we go back a 2nd or 3rd time and get something different and have the same or better results. They use crinkle fries and they are easy to mess up, but theirs were cooked perfect. Crisp on the outside and soft in the middle (very hot). The atmosphere is what makes it for me. It is a cross between small diner and old trolley car (even though its not). I think there was nine tables, but being small is what was great. I am pretty sure the owner was running it that day and he was great, very easy going and obviously knew alot of people coming and going. All in all, we will stop back by again at some point when we are down that way, but would recommend to anyone. I think we will try out breakfast because a couple dishes that came out looked unique and very good.

First time here and was pleasantly surprised. This family owned, downtown neighborhood diner looks deceiving from the outside, however, serves delicious breakfast on the inside. Went with a friend looking for a good breakfast and this small, quaint diner did not disappoint. My egg, sausage, cheese sandwich with hash browns on the side was perfectly cooked and tasted delicious and very hearty. The value for what you get is enough to become a favorite spot. Don't let the outside decor fool ya, go inside if you want a good meal and the coffee is great too. I also noticed on the lunch specials, there were some great options too. Enjoyed the meal, will definitely be back.☺️

Absolutely amazing! The gentleman at the counter was super friendly and the food was to die for. The coffee was fresh and delicious with the mocha in particular being one of the best I’ve ever tasted! I’d highly recommend getting one of their breakfast sandwiches. I got the maple one and it was top notch! If you’re in downtown Syracuse, then you NEED to check the place out!
